Public Hearing for Landmark Preservation Status: Cableland

Dear Neighbors,

Your Cranmer Park/Hilltop Civic Association Board has received notice that an application has been made to the Denver Landmark Preservation Commission to designate Cableland (4150 East Shangri La Drive) as a City Landmark.  Your Board thinks it would be great to have another Historic Landmark in the neighborhood and is soliciting feedback from the adjacent neighbors.  This is a copy of the notice we received:

Landmark Preservation is providing notice that the Denver Landmark Preservation Commission has an application, which is owner supported, for a proposed landmark designation of Cableland at 4150 East Shangri La Drive.

Landmark staff has found the application to meet Denver landmark criteria for designation and the designation procedure set out in Chapter 30 of the Denver Landmark Preservation Ordinance will now ensue. A public hearing for the property is scheduled before the Denver Landmark Preservation Commission for Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at the Wellington E. Webb Building, 201 W. Colfax Avenue, room #4.F.6.

Written public comments received by city staff ([email protected]) up until 12:00 p.m., the day prior to the scheduled public hearing will also be forwarded to the Landmark Preservation Commission.

Additional information on the designation process is available on the CPD – Landmark Preservation website.  Also visit the official Cableland website for more information about the home, to request use of the residence or see photos.

This is essentially an honorary designation and does not affect the adjacent properties.  The designation would mean that any work to the exterior of Cableland would need to be approved by the Commission.  Any work on the interior would not be affected.

Please review the information on the Landmark Preservation website, then let me know if you have any questions or concerns about this application.  We’d like to write a letter to the Commission by February 8th.

Thank you,

Tom Hart AIA
