INC Safe Outdoor Space Forum & Delegate Meeting

INC Delegate monthly meetings are held the second Saturday of every month to discuss common issues, Hot Topics and neighborhood concerns and to create position statements on critical issues impacting Denver. These meetings are a great way to get to know what is happening at the ground level in your city.  There typically is a program/forum/presentation on a topic of interest to neighborhoods.
This month’s main agenda includes a brief delegate meeting followed by a special INC Forum on Safe Outdoor Spaces.  This meeting is open to the public. Details and registration info follows.

INC Forum – Safe Outdoor Spaces
Saturday June 12, 2021 9:30 – 11:30 AM

Please join Denver’s Inter-Neighborhood Cooperation as we look deeply into the Safe Outdoor Space program to provide temporary shelter for people experiencing unsheltered homelessness in Denver. The meeting is open to the public. CLICK HERE TO PREREGISTER

Our forum will explore questions such as: How do temporary Safe Outdoor Spaces affect neighborhoods as they provide shelter and services for their residents? How does this approach fit in with the range of other approaches to help with homelessness? How are these spaces funded, and what impact are they having?

During this forum, we will hear from neighborhood organizations where the first Safe Outdoor Spaces operated by the Colorado Village Collaborative were located, along with City Council, Colorado Village Collaborative, and Denver zoning administration representatives, and neighbors nearby and within existing Safe Outdoor Spaces for their perspectives.

Panelists:

• Robin Kniech, Denver City Council At-Large

• Cole Chandler, Executive Director, Colorado Village Collaborative

• Tina Axelrad, Denver Zoning Administrator

• Travis Leiker, Executive Director, Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods (CHUN) RNO

• Judy Trompeter, President, Uptown on the Hill RNO

• (TBA), Neighbor living next to a Safe Outdoor Space

• Mark Montes, Safe Open Space Resident

About INC
Established in 1975, Denver INC (Inter Neighborhood Cooperation) is a voluntary, non-profit coalition of representatives from Denver’s registered neighborhood organizations (RNO’s), city agencies and others that gather to promote responsible city change and growth for Denver. Membership represents over two-thirds of Denver’s households. We focus on citizen education/advocacy and fair-balance presentations on issues impacting Denver residents.
For many years, INC has increasingly become the vital voice of Denver’s neighborhoods on municipal public policy. Through its committees, INC has developed the first comprehensive Citizens Education Academy, provided representatives to City task forces, furnished resources and tools to promote neighborhood organizational development and been involved in shaping recent marijuana initiatives and short term rental conditions.
