The legislative process of review for the East Area Plan began on October 7 at the Denver Community Planning Board.  Following the CPB’s approval of the East Area Plan, City Council will begin its review of the draft plan at the next meeting of its Land Use, Transportation and Infrastructure (LUTI) Committee on Tuesday, October 20. The meeting does not involve public testimony, but community members can watch live on Denver’s Channel 8 or online at Denver8.tv. Comments may also be submitted to [email protected].

The City Council hearing for the East Area Plan will be held on Monday, November 16 and will include a one-hour courtesy hearing.

The East Planning Area neighborhoods—South Park Hill, Montclair, Hale (North Hilltop*), and East Colfax—contain many great community assets, including historic parkways, the Rose Medical Center, Johnson and Wales University, and many unique, locally-owned businesses. The area is experiencing some significant changes, such as the 9th and Colorado mixed use project, as well as plans to add Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) along Colfax Avenue. Two of the four neighborhoods, South Park Hill and East Colfax, have out of date plans, while Hale and Montclair have no plans at all.
The Neighborhood Planning Initiative provides a great opportunity to establish the community’s vision for maintaining and enhancing the quality of life in these neighborhoods for decades to come.
