September 2021 Neighborhood News & Events

Civic Association:
Halloween Picnic and Parade – We’re extremely excited to have the annual Halloween Parade tradition back this year after having to cancel last year. We are still looking for a few more volunteers to help with the preparations for the event and help on the day of the event. If interested, please contact your neighbor and co-organizer Lisa Glauser.

Board of Directors Meeting – Please join us for our next Board of Directors Meeting, which is open to all Hilltop residents on September 14th at 6:00pm.

Parks and Recreation:
District 5 Neighborhood Night with the Colorado Rapids – Another great opportunity for our community to gather is coming up! Save the Date for Saturday September 25 and District 5 Neighborhood Night with the Colorado Rapids – join us for a D5 Community BBQ and soccer game. Click here for more info and to buy tickets.

Cherry Creek Arts Festival – Reminder that the Cherry Creek Arts Festival has moved to this weekend (Sept. 4-6) from its usual July time. Come out and celebrate the festival’s 30th anniversary this year!

Denver Parks Outdoor Adventure and Alternative Sports Master Plan – What programs and activities do you imagine for outdoor adventure and alternative sports in Denver and the mountain parks? Please join Denver Parks & Recreation (DPR) for the first public meeting to learn about outdoor adventure and alternative sports in Denver on September 30th at 5:30pm via Zoom.

Businesses:
New Recycling Service –  Ridwell is a new subscription service that helps people waste less by offering home pickups of items that can’t be placed in curbside recycling.  Those items are then brought to local and regional partners for appropriate reuse and recycling. Some of the most common items we collect are plastic, threads, light bulbs, and batteries.

Local Government:
8th Avenue Traffic Study Update – On Tuesday August 31st, the team from Fehr and Peers will have tubes and other equipment set up along 8th Avenue from Colorado Blvd through to Quebec Street for the long awaited data collection that was delayed until our community was able to resume more typical traffic patterns after pandemic related restrictions had been lifted.
