DPD List 3 CAB Mtg will discuss crime stats and safety on Tuesday, Oct 4th. Come an hour earlier at 5pm and you’ll have an opportunity to talk with our Community Resource Officers about your specific concerns.

What do you think about the way Denver engages with the community on important issues? The city has commissioned two studies related to improving community engagement and neighborhood safety. Your input is sought now – survey runs through Saturday, October 8th.

To prep you for next month’s election, here are two forums on ballot issues that impact neighborhoods: Saturday, Oct 8th – INC, Inter Neighborhood Cooperation umbrella group for RNOs in Denver presents a forum on 4 ballot issues with pro/con presentations.  The following week, our friends at CHUN will hold a Community Forum on 3 ballot issues on Tuesday, October 11.

Hilltop Neighborhood Assn news: Please join us for our next board meeting Tuesday, Oct 11 and on Nov. 15th, we’ll hold our Annual Elections & Membership Meeting to elect a new slate of board directors.  We invite you to get involved and consider joining us in our mission to “to preserve, protect, and enhance” our lovely neighborhood.

Want to know where our tax dollars may be allocated in the coming year?  Learn about the Mayor and the City Council budget priorities in a series of hearings about the City Budget culminating in a Public Hearing and vote on Monday, Oct 24th.

Shared Streets create a safe place – on streets normally dominated by autos – for people to walk, bike, roll and play. Over the past two years, Denver has been experimenting with this idea. Based on the success of this experience, Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) has decide to create a formal Shared Streets Program.  Learn more about it and provide your input at a Virtual Community Meeting on Oct 25.

D5 City Council Parks Clean Up is this Saturday, Oct 2 Join your neighbors to help tidy up our beautiful parks. This is a great way to enjoy a brisk morning walk in the park while doing good works and meeting new friends!

Denver Botanic Gardens Fall Plant & Bulb Sale Sept 30 – Oct 1 Plan your spring garden now! Takes place at the York Street location. Admission is free to the plant sale and the Gardens, however capacity is limited and members and non-members must reserve a ticket online for a specific date and time to visit.

Denver Botanic Gardens Pumpkin Festival Oct 7 – 9 Celebrate fall with family and friends at Chatfield Farms. Ticket price includes access to the pumpkin patch, Corn Maze, live music and children’s activities.

Free Birding Walks with the High Line Canal Conservancy Saturday, Oct 8 This day is a Big Day in the birding community: October Big Day.  Find out what’s so special about this day and enjoy a walk with expert birders from Denver Audubon and The Urban Bird. You’ll need to register and choose a walk location from four options.

Women Painters of the American West – Nov 7 – 28 Since the 1800’s, women have been central to the western American art scene. This four-part DU Enrichment Course taught by art historian Molly Medakovich aims to set the record straight.  Find details in this link to the Full Course Catalog.

Denver Film Festival starts it’s 45th season Nov 2-13 but the Member Preview and the last call for the reduced price ticket packs deal is Monday, Oct 3rd.
