Civic Association:
Hilltop Summer Movie Night – The Cranmer Park/Hilltop Civic Association is thrilled to bring back Summer Movie Nights at Robinson Park! On Thursday, August 19th we will be showing the movie Croods: A New Age. Entertainment and treats will be provided by Big Air Jumpers from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Bring blankets and low chairs (for optimal viewing) and settle in. We will have food and dessert trucks available starting at 6:30 p.m. so you can have a summer picnic with your family and connect with long-lost neighbors. Hope to see you all there! Parks and Recreation:
Construction Update for Crestmoor Park – You may have noticed that construction has started within Crestmoor Park. This project will replace priority walks to meet ADA requirements and improve overall safety, as well as create an accessible picnic area. Construction should be completed in late October, 2021.
Cherry Creek Arts Festival – Save the Date! The 2021 Cherry Creek Arts Festival will take place over Labor Day weekend, September 4, 5 & 6. To ensure this year’s event will be the safest possible environment for all involved, the 2021 event is also relocating to the creekside area of the Cherry Creek Shopping Center, directly across First Avenue from our traditional home in Cherry Creek North.
Local Government:
Cherry Creek Lane Closures – Denver Water will begin a water main installation project on East First Avenue in late July. The project will last through November 2021. During construction, there will be daily lane closures on East First Avenue in this area. Motorists should expect delays. Local access to residences and businesses will be maintained throughout the project.
Major Changes Coming to City Council – Municipal elections in Denver operate on a timeline that fails to consider the practical needs of the mail ballot model and you can learn about the possible solutions proposed here. Be sure to share your thoughts with your representatives. Your input is also sought by Council on the matter of re-drawing council boundaries and perhaps eliminating the at-large council seats.
