East West Partners is redeveloping the site west of Cherry Creek Mall. Bordered by University Boulevard, 1st Avenue and Cherry Creek North Drive, this 13-acre site will be transformed into a “15-Minute Community”.
The premise of this development is a live, work, play environment where all services are within a stroll or bike ride, and pedestrians are prioritized over cars. Focused on wellness and sustainable design, the community will offer ample outdoor space for recreation and community gatherings, including a Farmers’ Market. The principle of “Putting the Creek Back in Cherry Creek” will highlight this valuable amenity. The current design plans for seven unique buildings up to 12 stories in height with a goal of starting construction in 2024.
While an ambitious transformation, East West Partners has assembled a highly talented design team including the internationally recognized architectural firm Gensler and landscape architecture firm Design Workshop. The team also includes BuildMark, Cushman & Wakefield, Buell Foundation and Taubman. Previously, East West Partners developed Riverfront Park and Denver Union Station.
Cherry Creek West is currently in the City’s Large Development Review (LDR) process. The first official Community Information Meeting occurred virtually on August 10th. East West Partners presented details on the concept and provided a format for the community to ask questions. Members of the Hilltop Neighborhood Association attended. The meeting was recorded and can be found on the website https://bit.ly/3Qk22sC Feedback on the development plans is welcome and encouraged.
